Anchor - A Poem

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

The transition from a teen to an adult seems like freedom. We start to think, act, and behave as independent adults. Chasing temporary pleasures and hollow dreams, we wander. Along the way, we lose sight of what matters. We try to find solace in strangers.

Wildly you sail,

Deep into the unknown,

Leaving a trail,

For the world to be shown.

The journey you embark

Is long and lonely.

Leaves it's mark,

Plain and profoundly.

An occasional stormy night,

Endangers lives,

To throw off this plight,

Your heart strives.

A new dawn rises,

Unveiling you stronger,

Enduring bruises,

Relish life longer.

Wandering solo,

Unravelling strangers,

Your heart's hollow,

Your mind whispers.

Roving through,

With no clue.

Anywhere you may roam,

You anchor right back home.

The intention behind this poem is to realize, wherever we may go, we'll anchor back home. A place is only as good as the people in it.
