Staying in, not being able to go out has completely taken away my motivation to try to put effort in how I look and what clothes I wear. It becomes difficult to get out of your sweats because “who’s gonna see, right?”. We do so much to look good for other people. It is time to look good for ourselves. Putting effort into getting dressed honestly changes how you feel. Getting out of pyjamas and putting on anything else gives a productivity boost. Here are some ways you can put minimal effort into your look and still end up looking like a baddie. We are lucky to be living in a time where comfortable is chic and comfortable is fashion.
Sweatpants & Sweatshirt
The classic. You can't really go wrong with a sweatshirt and sweatpants option. Baggy sweatpants, skinny sweatpants, cropped sweatshirt, full sweatshirt, matching sets, mismatched sets, they all just work. Nothing looks more effortless than a pair of these.
This is one of my favourite sets.
Monochrome it!
Wearing the same colour from head to toe might not feel like that much of a fashion moment. But trust me, it is. It looks so chic without even having to try. It doesn't matter if you don’t have the same shade of red pants and a red top. The difference in tones makes it look even better. If the colour feels too bold, go with an all-black option. This look is so effortless, yet looks so well put-together.
Jewellery On Jewellery On Jewellery
Layered necklaces and a pair of dainty, dangly earrings can spruce up any look. Even your pyjamas and your sweatpants. Gold and silver is directly associated with wealth, hence wearing them will elevate your outfit.
Crazy Sneakers Are The Way To Go
Sneakers are a quintessential fashion piece for all the right reasons. It makes for the perfect statement. Whether they are all white or full of colour, they will definitely add value to your look. I would always suggest going for a pair of all-white sneakers. Or even those crazy looking ones with all the colours. Pair these sneakers with your denim and t-shirt look and you have everyone talking about how just one shoe takes your look to a different level.
I am obsessed with these sneakers
Baggy Trousers
Let's take the outfit one step further. Replace those sweatpants with a pair of baggy trousers. They can be cotton, denim, linen or even corduroy. This is another way to look chic and still be cosy at the same time. With living in Mumbai and having to run around like crazy everywhere, my entire wardrobe is baggy trousers and baggy trousers only. If they can be comfortable for running around the city, they can definitely be comfortable for staying home. Pair them with your favourite tank top or an oversized t-shirt for an effortless, comfortable look
These pants from Marks & Spencers are perfect for pairing with practically anything.
Turtlenecks Are Your Best Friend
Turtlenecks are a classic. Something about this silhouette makes any outfit look so classy and so chic. They look good on everyone. They look good with everything. Throw on a pair of baggy trousers, sneakers and some gold jewellery and you will look ready to go to a fancy dinner restaurant and still be as comfortable as you are in your pyjamas. A classic black and a classic white are cool. But you can be adventurous and go for a cheetah print or even a stripe.
With all this said, by no means does anyone have to feel pressured to look 'perfect' or 'effortless' or 'put-together' at all times. You are allowed to breathe, stay in your pyjamas and not do the most every day. You are allowed to let go of the need to look dressed up all the time. You do you and you do what makes you happy.
